Experience
As someone with extensive experience tutoring, I am able to tutor students at various levels of schooling. While in college I belonged to several prestigious honor societies, including Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the Golden Key International Honor Society. In addition, I gave assistance to one of my professors in our English Department and was the recipient of many different scholarships and awards during my time there.Primarily, I have worked with other college students while obtaining my undergrad degree in English. However, I believe that the same principles can be applied and adjusted for any age group. English and writing skills are basically the same, regardless of what level they are taught at. I have also gained experience working with younger students to help them prepare for standardized tests such as the STAAR. My approach to tutoring is to try and keep the environment as natural as possible. It does the student no good if they feel pressured or uncomfortable during their tutoring sessions. Sometimes it is important to remember that there are other issues and factors that the students need to deal with and tutoring is more than just helping with homework.
